Report No 71

Margot has written this one and I have added a few comments in italics.

Tara and her friends

Monday 7th August, 2023

Did more shopping for the new house for the Senior Couple. In the evening Elder Ceff made pizza to have with Brigham and Nai and Sui and Aina.  We were blessed to see more of their new born and both are doting parents.

Tuesday 8th August

Had to do a Condition of Entry and be at the new house when the white goods arrived. Murray was not feeling a 100 percent so Elder Long and Elder Jaussi kindly assisted in assembling the bed frame as the Carrs, the new Senior Couple, were arriving on Thursday.

In the evening, Murray had District Council Meeting. At the District Presidents request, I talked a lot about Temple and Family History Work, which they are trying to raise awareness of and activity, in the District.

Wednesday 9th August

More shopping for the house.

Gospel study class in the evening.

Thursday 10th August

More shopping and because we were running out of time, Yoriko gave us permission to give the Carrs the meal that she had prepared for us and then Yoriko made extra for us.  Her kindness and thoughtfulness was so appreciated.

The Carrs arrived the time they said they would. They had driven straight from Bowen so it had been about a six hour drive.

Unfortunately, their table and chairs have not arrived but they were appreciative of what we had managed to purchase.

Friday 11th August

The Sister Missionaries had their car serviced so had to pick them up and drop them off.  Also had flat inspections.  Now that the Carrs are here, we no longer inspect the Elders flat so we just have the Sisters flat. When we first arrived in Cairns we only had one set of missionaries and then it went to five sets and now because of the other Senior Couples up here, we are again only over one set of missionaries.

Saturday 12th August

Murray had recovered but I was not feeling a 100 percent. (And it was windy, and I was not even interested in going out to Yorkey's Knob!)  Had to do some shopping, as we needed to take some food with us to Atherton on the Sunday.

Tonight transfers were announced and we found out that Elder Key and Elder Keung were both being transferred. It was no surprise to either as both have been here for a while.

Sunday 13th August

Travelled to Atherton as Murray had a District Council speaking assignment. Yoriko had asked if she could come with us. Messaged Leila, our Ethiopian friend, to let her know and she messaged back saying that she would definitely be at Church. The Jonssons were there and a few other visitors.  It was wonderful to see Brother Ray Stewart at church as he has been very sick and unable to make it.  He is still very sick. They had food afterwards which gave us a chance to socialise and we learned that Brother Jonsson had served in the Melbourne Mission when he was younger and had taught the Basil family who Murray knows better than I.  They were flying down the next day to visit them.

The Kose family in Atherton

In the evening we went to Tara's and had dinner with the elders and non member friends that she had invited. The elders taught a lesson and then they left and then we watched a church movie. Tara has just been called as a branch missionary and truly consecrates her time, talents and means to do missionary work.
