Mission Report No 12

 Monday 6th June 2022

Visited Sister Cassie Bell and her mother today. Both long time members of the Church, but the mum is unable to come to Church now because of the air-conditioning, which makes it too cold for her there, in her delicate state of health. Some of the brethren in 2nd Branch often administer the sacrament at home for her.

Had a Single Adult activity at our place tonight.

Tuesday 7th June

7.00am Another big brekky with the Kimiia's. Good old Sister Kimiia, puts on a spread for breakfast to rival the best hotels! No need for another meal till very late in the day!

10.00am Zone council, which Pres Ence asked me to conduct.

Visited Iamin and Marcella and Emmanuel

7.00pm Temple prep class

Wednesday 8th June

Yet another real estate inspection with a prospective buyer. We've never lived in rented accommodation, while it is up for sale. It's a bit of a pain in the neck to be honest, but the landlord has the right to sell of course, so you really just have to put up with it. We are however, facing the very real prospect of having to find somewhere else to live, when the unit sells. We have a lease until October, but rental properties are very hard to come by in Cairns at the moment, so as soon as it sells we will have to start looking for something.

Kitesurf at Yorkey's Knob early afternoon.

Elders Dollery and Pemberton,
with Greg Jnr.

This evening at 5.30pm young Gregory Dick Jun. who Elders Dollery/ Fata/Pemberton have been teaching for  the last couple of months, was baptized . Many 2nd Branch members came in support of young Gregory, and his parents Greg Snr and Deidre, and his older sister Kaissia.   It was a very happy occasion for all involved. The Branch President has been fantastic in his support of the family.

Friday 10th June 2022

We needed to do our flat inspection with the Elders this morning. They're doing a great job of keeping the flat tidy and clean!

L to R Noah Esther David and Daniel

Late afternoon we assisted in a Primary activity for Cairns 2nd Branch. Elders Dollery and Pemberton, and Margot and I dressed up as Old Testament characters  David, Daniel, Esther and Noah respectively. We each told a one minute summary about the character that we were portraying.

After Margot finished the story of Esther, 5 year old Joah Bell came up and told her of the ending of the story that she neglected to tell. Then after I finished my story of Noah, he stood up the front and told the rest of the story, that I left out due to time constraints. He was so good I went up beside and put my head-dress on him and gave him my staff. He is an amazing little kid!

Yes, I look just like Noah hey!

And it came to pass, that Joah
continued telling the story.

June with her Lamington Cheesecake
 a friend made for her

Visited our friend June Marsh in Port Douglas today for her birthday, which is this coming Wednesday. We also met Junes friend, Rakai, for the first time - lovely lady, who happens to live around the corner from us in Cairns!  It was windy too, so got a kitesurf in there. Port Douglas is a nicer spot than Yorkey's Knob, the water being a bit more shallow and smooth.

Sunday 12th June

Visited Innisfail Branch for the first time today. There were only about 10 people there including us. They need some help down there!
