Missionary Report No 66
Monday 3 July, 2023
Dinner at the Taula's. Elder Bergeson is to my right. |
This evening, we had dinner with Nai and Brigham Taula, which we enjoyed very much and then the rest of the family came home and the missionaries arrived and we had the opportunity to say "goodbye" to Elder Bergeson who was leaving early the next morning.
Tuesday 4th July
The fish exchange. |
We had a teaching appointment with the sisters in the afternoon but that fell through.
It's been raining a lot lately, but it was a bit drier this morning, so Murray went to mow the Etheridges lawn.
We had a call from the Gilbert family who were visiting from Victoria to meet them down at the Esplanade to pick up fish that they had caught. They kindly gave us two whole Trevally and one that had been filleted. You can guess what we had for dinner that night. Beautiful fish!
Wednesday 5th July
We invited Yoriko to come for dinner as she eats fish but not beef or chicken. I had never cooked a whole fish before but found a recipe online and turned out very tasty. We had it with rice and misoshiru and salad
Thursday 6th July
First thing this morning, Murray went to the gym with the Elders, at their apartment complex.
Murray then went for a swim this morning at the Esplanade Pool. The price has gone up to almost 7 dollars to swim at Tobruk Memorial Pool, and the Esplanade pool is free, so Murray is now riding his bike there to swim a couple of times a week.
We still had one more fish left so we invited the sister missionaries (Hales and Boonsarn) to have that with us.
We then went to the Gospel Study Class which Murray teaches.
Friday 7th July
We went to the Wetzel's for dinner which we enjoyed very much. Sister Wetzel's daughter kindly prepared the meal and we enjoyed talking to the Wetzels about their family and how they met. Since they are both converts, they have agreed to be interviewed by Murray for his podcast, Gather In. It should be an interesting interview. She is a PNG native, he is from Germany. They are both around 80 and met in PNG when they were quite young.
Saturday 8th July
This morning they had a working bee at the chapel, putting mulch on the garden. We didn't have a wheel barrow or shovel so couldn't do too much but decided to help clean the chapel.
Murray had his regular Tai Chi class.
In the afternoon, we attended a baptism for the daughter of a family that has just returned to activity. They had family travel from America and New Zealand for the baptism. It was also well attended by the members.
In the evening, we had a meeting with some other senior couples to discuss further the agenda for the Seniors Conference in September.
Sunday 9th July
Transported some members to church.
Attended both Branches.
In the evening, we had the elders over for dinner as they had no meal appointments.
