Missionary Report No 63

15 months ago, our district was just 4 of us.
We have grown!

Monday, June 12th, 2023

Today we had a lot happening. It started with a pot luck lunch with all the missionaries, seniors included, 16 in total.  The Kings and the missionaries then headed off to the golf driving range and then the missionaries returned to the chapel to play board games.

We had the Grangers, who served in our mission and visiting Cairns, come for dinner at 5pm. We enjoyed very much catching up with them.

Then at 7pm we had our Seniors FHE for the North which was our turn to host.  The Grangers were keen to join in as well.

Tuesday, June 13th

Murray had District Council Meeting tonight.

Wednesday, June 14th

Rex Lookout, on the way back from Port Douglas

We headed up to Port Douglas as it was June's birthday.  We went out for lunch then back to her place for her delicious cheesecake and then a game of scrabble.

Thursday, June 15th

Took the Subaru in to have the handbrake fixed. In the evening we picked up Lois and Brett for the Gospel Study class which Murray taught.  Those who attended said they really enjoyed the class.

Friday, June 16th

We bumped into Matthew and Patrina who is Deidre's daughter at the supermarket.  We helped them take their groceries home as they were planning on catching a bus.  Coincidentally, they were scheduled to meet with the elders later that day.

In the evening, Yoriko kindly prepared a Japanese meal for us.  Lots of vegetables which we enjoyed.

Saturday, June 17th

Tai Chi in the morning. We noticed that one of the members was cleaning the chapel by himself so after Tai Chi we decided to help him.

In the afternoon was Lucas' baptism which was followed by a Branch activity, food and karaoke. We discovered some talented singers in the Branch and Murray sang Unchained Melody (without the high part) and You've Got a Friend, which doesn't have a high part!

Sunday, June 18th

I spoke in Cairns Branch 1 and then Murray and I both spoke in the Thursday Island Branch by Zoom. They had friends and family from Western Australia and New Zealand also join in.
