Missionary Report No 58
Tai Chi group |
Monday, 8th May, 2023
Today the Kings drove up from Innisfail to have their car serviced. We met them and spent the morning together. We went to Muddy's Cafe on the Esplanade for a smoothy, as well as doing a bit of shopping at Cairns Central.
We then prepared a meal to have with a sister in the Branch. While there, her carer called to say she had had an accident. It turns out that her carer is also a member of the church but has not attended for a long time. She asked if she would like a blessing and arrangements were made with the missionaries to give her a blessing the next day.
Tuesday, 9th May
We had the Wilferts over for lunch as it was Brother Wilfert's birthday.
I, with the younger missionaries, gave a blessing to the lady mentioned yesterday.
We did a cookie drop this evening but unfortunately the person wasn't home.
Wednesday, 10th May
I did an interview with a lady, Amber Pearce, from the States, which you can watch here (please like, comment or subscribe).
We then drove to Atherton to inspect the home for the senior couple. It is only two years old and not too big, which will make it easier to furnish.
In the evening, we picked up CJ and his friends again for Youth. They said they want to come again next week.
Thursday, 11th May
Today was spent doing shopping and other things.
Friday, 12th May
This morning we had to do flat and car inspections. They both passed with flying colours.
Saturday, 13th May
Our attendance tripled at Tai Chi with three people turning up. Then, we enjoyed an impressive Mother's Day breakfast for both Branches. The elders assisted with providing an activity and helping in any way possible. Then tonight information about transfers came through from Brisbane. We are losing four elders. It is always sad to say goodbye to the missionaries leaving, but we are grateful that we had the opportunity to serve with such fine elders. Elder Hamilton is being made the AP. Elder Harry Roberts, from Geelong, is becoming our Zone Leader which, we are very excited about. While serving here we have had exceptional zone leaders. Mind you, we may not get to see Harry - he is a four hour drive away down in Townsville!
Sunday, 14th March
We were assigned to speak in Atherton. We invited Leila and she came.
In the evening, Tara invited the Benioni family and us for dinner for Mother's Day. It was so thoughtful of her, and it was lovely not having to prepare a meal.
