Mission Report No 20
Monday 15th August 2022
Apart from another real estate sales inspection here at 4.30pm and a bit of shopping, I see nothing else in the diary for today.
Tuesday 16th August
Probably the highlight of the week was a mission wide conference with Elder Tad Callister and his wife speaking to us from the US. All four of our Cairns Elders came to our place to Zoom in with us. A great day!
I attended a District Council meeting in the evening.
Wednesday 17th August
We had a teaching appointment with one of our favourite friends, Gypsy, up in Atherton this morning. We always enjoy teaching her. A very sincere and well read seeker of enlightenment!
After visiting Gypsy, we drove down to Lake Tinaroo, just for a bit of exploration, before driving home.
Thursday 18th August
Inspected a possible new residence for us here, at The Lakes on Greenslopes St, but it was way too small though.
Had a kite foil session this arvo at Yorkey's.
Institute class with the Young Single Adults was really good tonight too!
Friday 19th August
Early morning gardening session at the Davies place out in Redlynch.
We went to visit my cousin Taya and her partner Simon and their little baby boy Kai. She visited us with Kai a couple of weeks ago and I forgot to get a photo then and I forgot to get a photo again on Friday! Had a really nice visit with them. First time to meet Simon - he's a little bloke like me - good to look someone in the eyes for a change!
Saturday 20th August
"Market Day", a fundraiser for the youth FSY conference, was held by 2nd Branch this morning. We baked a cake and bread for them to sell.
This afternoon I went out to Yorkey's for a kite foil. Wind dropped off as soon as I launched my kite. Played with the kite on the beach, trying to do hot launches and reverse launches, neither of which worked! But it dried out the kite at least!
Sunday 21st August
I was assigned by the District President to speak at Atherton Branch today. Because the Branch President is unwell at the moment, I also presided and conducted the meeting. I asked Margot to speak first, which gave me a foundation for my talk. I think it all went OK. I'd not conducted a sacrament meeting for a long time and I think I got through it trouble free. Fortunately, the branch clerk, Roy McPherson, is a very well organized gentleman, who had prepared almost everything before we arrived. We visited young Travis Meharry on the way home to drop off a little birthday gift of Margot's homemade choc chip cookies. No-one knocks them back!
