Monday 11th September 2023 District P-day today with all the young missionaries in our District, as well as the Carrs. We all went up to Hartley's Crocodile Farm. This was my fourth visit and Margot's third visit there. Certain things about it were better this time, certain things not so good, but it was very good to all be there together. Lots of pictures Sisters Boosarn and Hales The Carrs, Jaussi, Lyons, Vest, Dunyon, Rydalch, Nuttall, Long, Barry, Dollery, Hales, Boonsarn and me in front. Tuesday 12th September 2023 We had our last District Council meeting with our amazing Cairns District Eders and Sisters this morning. Elder Dunyon requested that Elder Lyons ask my wife and I to close the meeting with our testimonies. After the meeting I had the young missionaries as well as Elder and Sister Carr, do very brief videos for me, explaining why they have come to the Brisbane Mission to serve. Can't remember much about today, but we did go to an Ethiopian New Years Eve par...

Zoe's picnic at Yorkey's Knob This is our second last week here in Cairns. We are getting very busy. As always, not everything we do gets a mention here. It's just too much. And we want to get all our reports up to date before we actually leave, because once we are on the road (in a few days as I write this on Saturday 16th) we won't be able to get much written. Monday 4th September 2023 We arrived back in Cairns this morning, from Brisbane, at about 10.00am. Sister Hales and Sister Boonsarn picked us up, which was very nice of them. We drove Elder and Sister King down to the Carr's place at Mt Peter, where their car was parked. We stopped at Earlville Shopping Centre on the way, and somehow lost a set of car keys for the Carr's car, possibly while there. We had a walk around our usual route in Edge Hill late in the afternoon. Then we got a call from the local police station saying that someone had dropped a set of car keys in there, which was a total surprise t...

Us with Elder Bergeson.     Monday 28th August 2023 I did my first live interview today with a person who is a Christian of another faith. I met Sam Korinek while on Instagram, after he had made a comment on someone else's post, and it seemed to me that he could learn a bit more about the Church and our beliefs and make some better comments in the future perhaps. We had a preliminary chat a couple of weeks ago, and we got on very well together, so planned ahead for a live chat., which has now been uploaded to YouTube and Facebook and as a podcast. Here's the YouTube video -  Tuesday 29th August 2023 Rode the bike to the Lagoon Esplanade pool this morning to do some laps. Got home in time to do another interview, this time with Tim Cabal, who is the actor playing the part of the lord of the vineyard in the upcoming Book of Mormon movie based on Jacob 5. Really great interview, I thought anyway, although I did waffle a bit at the start. But Tim was great! It is available on...

The Carrs, The Ceffs, and The Orths Monday 21 August 2023 This morning at 8.00am we went to our good friends, the Kimi'ia's, for what was our last breakfast with them. As usual, it was amazing! This family have been particularly good to all of us missionaries, having us in their home for brekky at least once every 6 weeks, if not more (up to 8 of us I think). And it's always been a breakfast fit for a king, which 81 year old Sr Kimi'ia gets up at about 4.00 o'clock to start preparing for us. We had a senior missionaries council meeting over zoom, which we had to click into while driving home from the Kimi'ia's place. Tonight, we had our new friends, Annette and Llew, as well as Elder and Sister Carr, come to our place for dinner. Annette is a Church member who has recently moved up here with her fiance, Llew, who is not a member, but he is quite interested in learning more about the Church. Annette is the sister of an old friend of mine from Melbourne, Ros...
