Mission Report No 76

 Monday 11th September 2023

District P-day today with all the young missionaries in our District, as well as the Carrs. We all went up to Hartley's Crocodile Farm. This was my fourth visit and Margot's third visit there. Certain things about it were better this time, certain things not so good, but it was very good to all be there together.

Lots of pictures

We had our last District Council meeting with our amazing Cairns District Eders and Sisters this morning. Elder Dunyon requested that Elder Lyons ask my wife and I to close the meeting with our testimonies. After the meeting I had the young missionaries as well as Elder and Sister Carr, do very brief videos for me, explaining why they have come to the Brisbane Mission to serve.

Can't remember much about today, but we did go to an Ethiopian New Years Eve party tonight. We loved catching up with all our Ethiopian and other African friends tonight.

The Ethiopan ladies with a Kiwi and one other African lady. All beautiful!

Earlier in the afternoon I met Marcelo Franco at the Church building  to sort our some AV stuff. We think we have it sorted now.

Morning walk and Tai Chi.

Margot and I with Bubba Tou

Our lovely young friend Bubba Tou came to say goodbye to us today. She played guitar and sang a song for us, which was beautiful.

We went up to Port Douglas for our last lunch with our friend June Marsh. After lunch we went back to June's place for a game of Scrabble and some of June's famous homemade cheesecake, which is our usual routine with June.

With Taya and little Kye

My distant cousin Taya and her little boy Kye (1.5 years) came to visit and say goodbye this morning. Kye loved our stairs - all he wanted to do was climb them!

We went to the Taula's place again tonight. I'm typing this 10 days later, we have been on the road for 5 days, and my memory is hazy to say the least! But I am sure that we had a really good visit with the Taula family, as we always do! The picture of us with Brigham Taula and his girlfriend Nai was actually taken during our Tai Chi farewell breakfast on Saturday morning.

Saturday 16th September 2023

Oh, I remember this morning! It was our last Tai Chi class. The hall was full! Both branches combined to put on a surprise breakfast for us. It was soooo good! We love you all!

Biggest Tai Chi class ever!

It's been a busy week and I am writing this two weeks later, while staying here in Sydney with Margot's sister Joanne and her husband Don. If i've missed some detail, like we came to say goodbye to YOU, and I didn't mention it, please let me know! We're heading down to Victoria tomorrow. Really not looking forward to it as when we get there we have to paint the house, sand the floor and eventually unload furniture from our shipping container and back in to the house. I'll write up about our journey down soon. Hope to arrive back in Geelong on Tuesday 3rd October.
