Mission Report No 72
The Brisbane YSA "ALL IN" Choir. |
Monday 14th August
Today we said farewell to Elder Key and Elder Keung, who had both served in the Cairns District since they started their missions, and the Lord knew that it was time for them to move on down to SE Queensland.
Here are links to their farewell messages to those of us staying in Cairns.
Tuesday 15 August
It was our friend Yoriko's birthday two days ago, so today we celebrated, by going to the In 2 Thai restaurant with her and our young Taiwanese friend, Zoe. It was a beautiful lunch! If you ever want really nice Thai food in Cairns, it is certainly the place to go!
In the evening we drove Zoe, Amoy and Amoy's brother Teancum, to Institute.
Wednesday 16 August
Fairly quiet day today, but we did have our CFM New Testament study class tonight, so I spent a fair bit of time preparing for that, although really only Elder and Sister Carr came tonight, and Sr Marilyn Taula a bit later, so it was more a "getting to know the Carrs" class. Great couple from near St George in Utah. They will be a wonderful asset to the District.
Thursday 17 August
A fairly quiet day, but we did visit our friends the Wilferts, then we had the Sister Missionaries come for dinner and then I met Marcelo Franco at the meeting house to run through the AV equipment there, to help him get familiar with it before the Brisbane YSA Choir came to visit and perform here on the weekend.
Friday 18 August
Margot took one of our friends to a medical appointment this morning while I did some catching up on a few things at home.
In the evening, we went to visit Sister Wetzel who had been moved to a facility closer to home. Brother Wetzel was there and so decided to interview them about their conversion to the gospel which was going well till Murray realized he had forgotten to press the record button.
Saturday 19 August
Today was the start of a big weekend with the Brisbane YSA All In Choir visiting the fair city of Cairns for the weekend. I was pretty much in charge of the technical facitlities at the Chapel, so their Sunday night devotional could be streamed via Zoom to the rest of the North Queensland District and further afield as well, to at least one Stake in New Zealand.
A "luau" was organized for tonight with various cultural groups performing in the hall, with the members of the Choir performing a number of items as well. It was a fun night!
Sunday 20 August
No, I was not playing the piano. |
I was playing with Zoom! |
As usual, we attended both Cairns branches. This afternoon we had a sound and video check with the Choir and then we had the devotional with them from 6.00 to 8.00pm. It was fantastic!
