Another amazing brekky at the Kimi'ia's this morning. What a wonderful family, cooking a breakfast for six of us again. We will really miss them when we go home.

In the afternoon, Margot cooked a meal to take to some friends who are experiencing some difficulties at the moment. Cooking is an essential skill for senior missionaries!

I went for a kitesurf this afternoon while Margot was cooking. A good division of labor - I'm not a great cook and Margot's not a great kitesurfer.

I woke up through the night itchy. My back was so itchy in the middle of the night that I got out of bed and rolled around on the carpet to scratch it.

I went over to Nimai's place this morning to mow the grass. Coming home, I needed to have a shower and as soon as I got wet I seemed to break out in this weird rash all over my abdomen and back. Very strange, but then I remembered having the itchy back last night. And wow, did it get itchy. Drove me nuts. Experimented with coconut oil with a bit of lavender oil in it, and some moisturizer, but it was actaully a couple of days before I thought to use some cortisone cream that we have. That was the only thing that made a difference. Once that got it under control, I was able to get some aloe vera from a friend and kept on applying the aloe vera and over the next week it started to clear up. But, it is very strange as I've never had anything like that happen before.

Zone conference today so we had the young missionaries here for lunch.

Murray taught his gospel study class and Leila, our friend from Ethiopia and her niece, Helena, attended the class along with several others.

Thursday 20 July 2023

We started applying for houses a couple of days ago, to rent for a new senior missionary couple coming up here. Today we did our first inspection on a house at Redlynch. Not an ideal location and there was probably a bit too much garden maintenance for us to worry about.

This afternoon we got ready to go to have dinner with our friends Hanna and her kids, her Auntly Leila (from Yungaburra). It was a really nice evening with our Ethiopian friends.

Friday 21 July 2023

We did flat inspections this morning.

We also took our new friend Zoe, who is from Taiwan, out today, to help her look for a job. She lives in the suburbs, so it saved her a lot of time, driving her into town and to the various restaurants.

The sisters had a meal with us.

Saturday 22 July 2023

We went to a 2nd Branch Trivia night and potluck dinner tonight, but near the start of it we received a call from the young missionaries in 2nd Branch asking if we could help them teach Tara's friend Magina, which was a nice experience. Elder Key and Elder Rydalch taught well.

Sunday 23 July 2023

Attended both branches today. Did a bit of driving of people to and from Church. Almost every Sunday we give our friend Brett a ride to Church. I think Brett was one of the first members we met in Cairns, when we walked into Cairns Central from the car park, at the entrance near Kmart, where Brett works at a Kiosk doing watch repairs and engraving etc. We've become good friends and we give Brett a lift to Church on most Sundays. He also attended our Temple Preparation classes and our Wednesday night Come Follow Me classes. We'll miss him when we go home.
