Missionary Report No 56

This is Miracle, in Nigeria, whom Murray should be interviewing this Wednesday, if the technology works! Please follow (or subscribe) Murray on Instagram , or YouTube  or Spotify (and other podcast players of course). The more followers, likes, comments etc, the more people will hear the conversion stories and testimonies of others. Monday 24th April, 2023 Sister Davies kindly did a Touch for Health with Murray over the phone. Lois needed a ride to an appointment because the rain was bucketing down. One of the sisters in the Branch visited in the afternoon.  Murray was on a high because he had a family of six who he had referred to the missionaries in Victoria, and another person (in New Zealand) all attend church yesterday. They were all people he knew from when he did Residential care work, about 10 years ago. Tuesday 25th April The highlight of today was that Murray received a video of his grandson, Jiah, surfing for the first time and he managed to stand up.  Leahanna...

North Queensland Zone Conference via Zoom   Monday, April 17th, 2023 Even though I am doing most of the writing now, Murray is still adding his bits. We finally received today five cartons of Books of Mormon.  We had run dry and the elders were anxiously awaiting their arrival.  This morning we were up at 5am to teach seminary which is from 6 to 7am.  We are only filling in for today and tomorrow.  Four turned up but there were a lot more folders for other students in the box.  Murray did a great job getting through the lesson with his sore back. Tuesday, April 18th Again we managed to make it to seminary on time. We had one less this morning and I helped with the teaching. They have two seminary groups and some do it via zoom.  I am not sure how many students are enrolled but I am guessing it would be in the twenties. Murray should know as he has been asked to be the supervisor for Seminaries and Institute. He is finding it is requiring more of h...

Glen with his niece Taya, and her baby boy, Kye. Monday, 10th April, 2023 Today we had Senior Council Meeting. There are more than 25 senior couples serving in the Brisbane Mission now.  A couple who have just arrived from Idaho are being sent to Mackay which is an area they have just opened up for seniors. Tuesday, 11th April Murray and Glen picked up Sister Pullen to take her to the airport.  They then walked up the Red Arrow which is a popular exercise spot located in the Botanical Gardens. Then on their way back, they picked up Hong who had been staying up at Port Douglas.  Hong was born in Hong Kong and then his family moved to Zambia and then to Australia. He and Murray worked at the same company for a while. He went to high school with Grant Leeworthy and knows a little bit about the church.  After having some breakfast, we headed to Barron Falls again which is about a thirty minute drive from here.  He was keen to see it before he caught his flight to Me...

Barron Falls Monday 3rd April 2023 As you can see from the number of reports, we have reached our year mark. Today we did an inspection of one of the elder's flats prior to an official inspection by the real estate agent. I am glad we did a previous inspection. Tuesday 4th April  Nothing outstanding comes to mind. Here's a link  to one of Murray's latest interviews on Spotify, and another link to the same interview on YouTube. Murray will be really happy if you like and subscribe and comment on either platform. This will help them show up more in the search engines and help get more positive LDS material in front of people online. Wednesday 5th April We headed down to Innisfail to buy bikes for the new elders, Elder Dunyon and Long, who will be arriving Thursday. We decided it would be better to buy bikes there for when they need to get them serviced.  The only bike shop in Innisfail is called, Wobble In, and the man who served us was very concerned about us buying the ri...

Monday 27th March 2023 This is Margot writing now because Murray hasn't got time as he is so busy doing his interviews. It will not be as exciting to read but will help us remember the details of our mission.    Today we went to Innisfail to do an inspection of the new flat for the elders who will be going there next transfer. We have really gained a testimony that if the Lord wants missionaries in an area, He will provide the accommodation. It has happened twice now - once in Atherton where we visited all the real estate agents only to be told nothing available and then the next day we get a phone call from one of the agents telling us they have something and it was the same flat the elders had two years prior. Again in Innisfail, we were told by all the agents that there is nothing available and again a few days later an agent calls to say they have something. But it seems the Lord also wanted a senior couple as well as elders as we also found another flat suitable for a sen...
