Not a lot happened today. I think more happens tomorrow!

Tuesday 21 February 2023

We went to visit our friend June up in Port Douglas today. Once again we went to the Courthouse Hotel for lunch and once again I had the Vietnamese Chicken and Prawn Salad. That is what you should have for lunch when you go to Port Douglas! After lunch we went back to June's place and had a game of Scrabble and a piece of her home-made cheesecake which was absolutely delicious. I do like a good cheesecake! (and a good game of Scrabble, but I was lucky to come in third place today)

Thursday 23 February 2023

Busy day today with interviews for my podcast etc.

This morning I interviewed Catherine Christoforatos who is a recent convert of about 4 years down in Brisbane. She has a great story to tell and you can watch the interview here.

Later today I was finally able to interview Sharmain Fa'aoso, who is the wife of our District President, James Fa'aoso. This is also an interview that is very well worth watching. Don't forget you can listen to my interviews on most podcast apps, just by searching "gather in murray ceff".

Tonight I had a meeting with the Church Educational System people in Brisbane over Zoom. One of the CES coordinators is Reuben Kwong, who was in a Primary class I used to teach in in Blackburn Ward about 30 years ago. Somehow he made it through my classes, went on a mission, married in the Temple and now works full-time for the CES. I have been asked to be the Seminaries and Institute Supervisor for the Cairns District, which is why I was in the meeting.

Friday 24 February 2023

We had 4 brand new Elders arrive in Cairns this morning and then they all came to lunch at our place this afternoon. See picture above.

Margot went to the hairdressers this morning - see photo up the top. Took hours but i think it's the best result ever! Mind you, my idea of a good haircut is value for money - how many inches were cut off per dollar? I think in this case it was probably about $100 per inch, but I do need to take in to account the very nice colour, which is probably of a higher monetary value than the cut. But it does look nice!

I think I went out to Yorkey's this afternoon but it was bad wind so didn't get the kite foil gear out there.

Sunday 26th February 2023

We went to Church up in Atherton today.  Leila came - her main motivation was to meet Marekja (spelling) a nearly 90 year old lady who the young Elders are teaching and is wanting to be baptized.

Well, it was a nice meeting and Leila did get to meet Marekja. Leila says she will be at Church again next week and will bring her grand-daughter who is staying with them for a little while. We look forward to meeting her.
