Mission Report No 44

Well, as I have often said, the briefer the blog post, the busier we have been! Even though I have only put out one interview (see below) this week, there has been a fair bit of work behind the scenes.

Tuesday 31 January 2023

District Council with the young missionaries today, with me teaching the financial self-reliance lesson. Nothing too exciting there, especially for the young Elders!

Wednesday 1 February

I went out on the boat with John this morning to try to fix something on the top of the mast, which is somewhere around 9 metres above the deck, which doesn't sound much till you start climbing it. I didn't think I would need the winch to help me, but the second time up I decided that I would. I didn't get a picture from the top of the mast, but I should have!

In the afternoon, Margot and I visited Shirley Skewes so that we could interview her for the podcast. Shirley is just the loveliest lady you could imagine, and it was a real pleasure interviewing her.

Thursday 2 February

We went out to lunch today with the Kimi'ia family. Sister Kimi'ia is the 80 year old who thinks nothing of cooking a breakfast for 6 or even 8 missionaries, and she has done that probably every six weeks since we have been up here. It was our turn to give her some sort of treat. We all enjoyed lunch at True Tai!

Friday 3rd February

Back up the mast on John's yacht this morning. Still didn't manage to achieve what we needed to.  And I still didn't get a picture!

Saturday 4th February

We had our biggest group ever for Tai Chi this morning!

Lunch at Babinda. Sarjohn with his back to us, Zekiel, Deidre,
Cassia, Tara, Renee, Gregory. Margot on the far left of course.

After Tai Chi, we drove to Tara's and headed off to Josephine Fall's, picking up the Gordon family and the Barling family long the way. Josephine Falls is a beautiful place and well worth the visit if you are ever driving past. We stopped at Babinda bakery (pictured above) along the way for an early lunch. Quite the bakery! Very popular.

At the Fall's, a young lady noticed my nametag and got all excited. She, Xiochu, is a member of the Church from the Canary Islands and is here on a working holiday. She's the one in the photo with Margot and Tara.

Sunday 5th February

I was excited to see John come to Church (1st Branch) this morning. I'm not sure if he stayed for all of sacrament meeting. Also ou friends Felix and Donna, who we visited a couple of weeks ago, arrived just before the start of the Sacrament meeting. And we helped our young missionaries by bringing Lois to Church again this morning.

After 2nd Branch meeting we prepared for a Young Single Adult fast breaker at the Luki's.

Another busy Sunday!
