Mission Report No 32

Our collection from a short walk
this morning. It's mango season, and while they sell
for $4.00 each in the shops (even up here),
you can pick them up for free,
under a tree, all over Cairns. (Lemons too!)

Brief report this week. I'm going to try writing on a daily basis, but still only posting once a week. I think I can write something more meaningful if I write daily, plus I don't have to rely so much on my memory, which is very unreliable. What I currently do is write my whole report on a Sunday afternoon, so I am basically reconstructing my week. Will be better to write everyday and include more thoughts and feelings I think.

Monday 7 November 2022

We had a lovely dinner tonight with Murray and Julie Gosney, a family we met when we first arrived in Cairns. Their son Tristan recently married Kayla Bradbury, whose father Graham, a good friend of mine, joined the Church in Geelong many years ago. They were curious to know about that connection. It's interesting how lives can cross in a small community of maybe 60 thousand active Church members in Australia.

Tuesday 8th November 2022

It was my turn to teach the financial self-reliance to our young Elders in this morning's District Council meeting. They all came back to our place for lunch afterwards.

Wednesday 9th 2022

We drove to Atherton late this morning, to do the flat inspection for the young Elders Taufelele and Chadburn - it was very neat and clean and tidy!

We then visited David Cashmore, stopping to get our favorite lunch at the Atherton Kebab shop. David and I had a good chat and I showed him how to use the Gospel Library app on his iPad.

Saturday 12 November 2022

Visited Ayako on Espy.

Coconut Paul's birthday

We went with Elders to the Thompson family in Kuranda tonight. A family with 10 sons - only six are still living at home, but 2 of them were visiting for the evening, one with his wife and daughter, so it was a pretty hectic household! We played a lot of table tennis, which was fun. I had not played for years so I was a bit rusty.

Sunday 13 November 2022

Church in Innisfail with Tara Tutavake. All three of us spoke in their sacrament meeting. Met Michael for the first time there this morning - young indigenous fellow, who I might be able to help with a few things I hope - number one will be getting a job.
