Mission Report No 21

Monday 22 August 2022 Not a lot to report today. The "house hunting" continues. Inspected a nice place at the Lakes today. Nice but too small! Had a swim this afternoon.  Quiet evening at home. Tuesday 23 August Lots of shopping. We are buying stuff to fit out the new missionary flat up in Atherton. Kiting this afternoon. Wednesday 24th August Trip to Atherton today. Had to be at the new flat to await delivery of white goods and furniture. We had an appointment to teach Gypsy today, but she wasn't feeling too well so we will reschedule for next week.  We had a really good visit with Leila and her husband David. We met Leila two weeks ago at the Kebab shop in Atherton. She is from Ethopia and David is an Aussie, but born in the UK. We had a much longer chat with David as Leila had a tradesman visit to do some work and then she had her afternoon at the lawn bowls club, which she invited us to so we could meet her friends there. We declined and opted to stay and talk with Da...

Monday 15th August 2022 Apart from another real estate sales inspection here at 4.30pm and a bit of shopping, I see nothing else in the diary for today. Tuesday 16th August Probably the highlight of the week was a mission wide conference with Elder Tad Callister and his wife speaking to us from the US. All four of our Cairns Elders came to our place to Zoom in with us. A great day! I attended a District Council meeting in the evening. Wednesday 17th August Below the dam wall at Tinaroo,  in front of the outlet to the river We had a teaching appointment with one of our favourite friends, Gypsy, up in Atherton this morning. We always enjoy teaching her. A very sincere and well read seeker of enlightenment! After visiting Gypsy, we drove down to Lake Tinaroo, just for a bit of exploration, before driving home. Thursday 18th August Inspected a possible new residence for us here, at The Lakes on Greenslopes St, but it was way too small though. Had a kite foil session this arvo at ...

Mission Report No 19

We are getting busier all the time now. Hard to remember everything from the past week, but will backtrack in my diary. Don't really have time to write it all either. When I sit a the computer on a Sunday night, my choice is to either read or write. Reading is easy and I love reading. I have a couple of LDS blogs that I like to read (Times and Seasons and By Common Consent). I occasionally make comments, when I feel that I can contribute in a positive way. But I think this blog is more important to me and maybe my family. Who knows, maybe someone else gets something good out of it. I'll never know really. For those who have come here via Facebook, if you make a comment or ask a question on Facebook, I still cannot respond as I cannot even see my own page, because of a hacker who had nothing better to do one day. But you can make a comment right here, or on Instagram, which I will see and respond to. Anyway, the week that was is below! Oh yeah, sometime in the week before we al...

Mission Report No 18 - a bit rough and well overdue.  Monday 18th July We went to visit our friend Gypsy up at Atherton. She has a list of questions about the Gospel and Church which we worked our way through with her. It was a really nice visit. She seems to be making progress in her spiritual journey. Tuesday 19th July Margot and I taught the health lesson to the district council this morning. I had a really good kite session at Yorkey's this afternoon. I clocked up 4.25 Kl on the foil, which was my longest and best session yet. Leahannah and Jiah arrived tonight. They are here for a week so we will have a bit of a different week, keeping busy with them. Wednesday 20th July Shopping day today. Leanannah and Jiah came with me to Tobruk Memorial Pool to do laps. Thursday 21st July Went to Hartley's Crocodile Park this morning. Was not quite as good as last time, but was still very good. In the arvo, Margot and I had a bit of running around to do so we dropped Lea and Jiah at th...
