Mission Report No 78 - Back to Victoria

Monday 25th September 2023 This morning we drove from Brisbane down to Toowoomba to visit Margot's cousin Glen and his wife Joan. Glen is one of Margot's Aunty Doris's son. Last time we saw them was when they visited us in Lara over 10 years ago.  In the afternoon Glen took us for a drive around Toowoomba to visit a couple of places. The timing of our visit was good as it was the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. I'm not much of a gardener, except if it involves something I can eat, but I must admit this was pretty spectacular. Margot with cousin Glen Margot and I at the Flower Show One of the flower beds- there were heaps of others, I just like these colors. We also stopped by the Toowoomba Ward meetinghouse, which was where Margot was baptised as an eight year old, having flown up there from King Island.   Tuesday 26th September 2023 Glen Mohr with his wife Joan and Margot and me. We left Glen and Joans early today so we could drop in a see my old mate Greg Cowan, who m...

Sunday 17th September 2023 As per usual, we attended both the Cairns branches, and as it was our last Sunday in Cairns we were invited to speak briefly at the beginning of the meeting. Sunday evening we had a very nice dinner with some of the other Cairns District senior missionaries, plus the Pattons and the Greenhalghs who were up from Cairns. After dinner at the Carrs. But before that we dropped in to see our friends the Wetzels, to say goodbye to them. Quite an elderly couple - he is German and she is a PNG native and they met and married many years ago when he was working for the Australia government in PNG. Our last v...

Monday 11th September 2023 District P-day today with all the young missionaries in our District, as well as the Carrs. We all went up to Hartley's Crocodile Farm. This was my fourth visit and Margot's third visit there. Certain things about it were better this time, certain things not so good, but it was very good to all be there together. Lots of pictures Sisters Boosarn and Hales The Carrs, Jaussi, Lyons, Vest, Dunyon, Rydalch, Nuttall, Long, Barry, Dollery, Hales, Boonsarn and me in front. Tuesday 12th September 2023 We had our last District Council meeting with our amazing Cairns District Eders and Sisters this morning. Elder Dunyon requested that Elder Lyons ask my wife and I to close the meeting with our testimonies. After the meeting I had the young missionaries as well as Elder and Sister Carr, do very brief videos for me, explaining why they have come to the Brisbane Mission to serve. Can't remember much about today, but we did go to an Ethiopian New Years Eve par...

Zoe's picnic at Yorkey's Knob This is our second last week here in Cairns. We are getting very busy. As always, not everything we do gets a mention here. It's just too much. And we want to get all our reports up to date before we actually leave, because once we are on the road (in a few days as I write this on Saturday 16th) we won't be able to get much written. Monday 4th September 2023 We arrived back in Cairns this morning, from Brisbane, at about 10.00am. Sister Hales and Sister Boonsarn picked us up, which was very nice of them. We drove Elder and Sister King down to the Carr's place at Mt Peter, where their car was parked. We stopped at Earlville Shopping Centre on the way, and somehow lost a set of car keys for the Carr's car, possibly while there. We had a walk around our usual route in Edge Hill late in the afternoon. Then we got a call from the local police station saying that someone had dropped a set of car keys in there, which was a total surprise t...
